Using Vintage Picnic Tins to Display Antiques and Collecitbles

Vintage Picnic Tins Used For Displays

Handled picnic tins make great platforms for displaying antiques and collectibles at shows, in shops and even at home. Colorful , sturdy and practical picnic tins come in so many sizes and patterns and can be used as great "stands" for displaying collectibles.

Visiting The Glastonbury New Years Day Antique Show in Glastonbury, Connecticut

Each year I have the pleasure of meeting up with Wanita Paolino, a regular dealer at the Glastonbury New Year's Day Antiques Show (Glastonbury, CT). Wanita, from Johnston, Rhode Island packs her fabulous kitchen collectibles into vintage picnic tins and tin bread boxes and
then unpacks her goodies re-using the tins for showcasing her kitchenwares.

Picnic Tins Come in So Many Colors And Patterns

What I particularly like about Wanita's displays is that she coordinates the colors of the picnic tins (or bread boxes) with the kitchen collectibles she sets atop them. Sometimes she matches the same colors of the tins with similalr colored objects and other times she uses complimentary colors.

All of the tins she carries are in tip top shape and when she is not using picnic tins for "stands" you see plenty of tins that Wanita stacks. She has some of the coolest picnic tins out there.

  1. Holy guacamole! I just discovered your blog, and I almost fell out of my chair when I saw all of those delicious picnic baskets! They're one of my favorite things to collect, and I've never ever seen a Christmas one. The search is on, because I must have one!
