A Vintage Turquoise Hair Dryer Adds Retro Pizazz To Shop Display

Vintage Hair Dryer Creates A Retro Feeling

I loved the addition of a Turquoise vintage hair blower to this shop display. Spotted at "Body Talk" in   Avon, CT., a trendy women's apparel shop which always has terrific displays. This turquoise hair dryer  was a baby boomer delight. The dryer is not for sale, but the contemporary styled apparel is! Just to be clear...Body Talk is not a vintage shop......but you will find plenty of  new clothing styled to remind you of earlier collections.

Kitsch n Stuff Added A Gallery Of Vintage Prints, Original Paintings And Whimscial Art

Kitschy Art At The Collinsville Antiques Company of New Hartford, CT

For Mother's Day, I decided to give my shop Kitsch n Stuff   located at The Collinsville Antiques Center of New Hartford, CT a new look. Now one large wall has a gallery of vintage and original prints and paintings. The look is FAB. These  charming paintings and prints will not last too long. Now they can be seen instead of tucked away in all the nooks and crannies in my booth. It was a big job re-arranging my booth, but the end results were KITSCH at it's best. Hope to see you there!

Collecting Vintage Flamingos

Flamingos Adored By Collectors

Hello Funky Flamingo

Three Florida Girls Etsy.com

Did you know that vintage Flamingos are very collectible? These long necked pink birds known for standing on one leg are very social and congregate  in colonies in Central and South America, the West Indies and the Galapagos Islands.

But not only do humans enjoy watching these birds hanging out with other Flamingos, we  adore keeping images and statues of them around. Back in the 1950s, tourists came back with lot's of Flamingo souvenirs from trips to Florida and other warmer climates.
The Flamingowas found on kitchen towels, salt and pepper shakers, snow globes, tip trays, beverage glasses, clothing and more.

Flamingo Collectibles Up In Price

Flamingo collectibles are as hot as the climates these birds enjoy. You will find lots of vintage souvenirs with Flamingo designs from ceramic knick knacks to kitchenware, textiles, decorative  accessories. Prices vary according to the manufacture and rarity of object. While most Flamingo kitsch can be purchased from $5.00-25.00, you will also find additional Flamingo collectibles which are priced much higher such as the California Pottery birds shown in this post.

As with any popular collectible, when there is demand, the price climbs. And these pink pals are attracting a lot of interest.  Flamingos are adored by many collectors young and old who are charmed by these funky Retro birds which were popular in the 1950s.
