Spotted while shopping in Winsted, CT. a factory town with a cluster of interesting Antique shops, this clever tree branch jewelry display caught my eye. Look how great chunky  bracelets look hung on the chunky tree branch. This idea proves that you can really show off your jewelry without spending a lot of money. All it takes is some creativity.

The light colored branch is a lovely contrast to the darker colored bracelets also like how only a few bracelets are displayed.

Now you cut the card weight paper into fun shapes . Here Peter Roth, the owner of "Tree House Art And Antiques", in New Hartford, CT (Route 44), cut his card stock into floral shapes or shapes and designs that are compatible with the piece of costume jewelry that he was "framing" on his card stock.

Well if you are a clever collector like my friend Peter Roth, who owns "Tree House Art And Antiques", on Route 44 in New Hartford, CT, you look at this random toy size wooden ladder and you say to yourself what can I do with it?

Look At Objects From All Angles And Perspectives

Peter likes to turn objects around, upside down, sideways, inside out....you get the point.

So here is what Peter did with the toy size ladder he found. He created a bridge with the ladder, attaching it from one object and hooking it to a nearby lampshade. Now he has created a wonderful display for hanging vintage costume jewelry.

This post is part of my Retro Hang Ups Series where I bring you clever ways to display antiques, collectibles and vintage jewelry.

Perhaps it was the red plaid fabric that got my attention, but I was excited to see how this antique dealers at Seymour Antiques Company, Seymour, CT came up with a unique way of hanging her old costume jewelry.

While many of us have seen single Bulletin boards or message boards which hang flat on the wall. This version is a tabletop unit which is like a mini screen.

I could see this idea working very well at antique shows or outdoor flea markets. And I like the red plaid....very 50ish, even thought I believe it a more current piece.

Using A Styrofoam Cone Shape Form To Display Vintage Costume Jewerly

Look how cool these vintage yellow flower pins look displayed on a green Styrofoam cone form. The form is sitting on a tray alongside a sweet picture frame.

I can see this idea working for all kinds of whimsical costume jewelry pins, especially colorful 1960s Flower Powers styles.

Styrofoam is inexpensive and comes in so many different shapes. You will find balls, blocks, rings, cones and other shapes.

You could also cover the Styrofoam form with vintage material or wallpaper.

I have another exciting idea to share with you about how to display vintage and costume jewelry. This clever solution was found at Antiques on The Farmington, Collinsville, Connecticut.

The gal in this booth took a pretty gold frame that is missing the glass and replaced the glass with fine black plastic netting . 9See product info below).

She hangs earring, bracelets and necklaces using hooks or even opened paper clips. Now this is a great easy way to display jewelry!

Whimsical Ways to Display Your Vintage Bangles, Beads and Baubles: Ideas for Vintage Jewelry Collectors and Dealers

Vintage and costume jewelry is very popular at this time as young gals are preparing for prom day and brides and bridesmaids are getting ready for the wedding season . It seems that dealers who adore collecting and selling vintage and antique jewelry also enjoy finding terrific ways to show off their gems.

Converting a Nursery Lamp into a Vintage Earring Display

When visiting Patti’s Antiques in Windsor, CT. I discovered a number of clever jewelry displays that are worth sharing. Of course I lean toward retro whimsy , so I was tickled to find an adorable vintage nursery lamp converted into a display for earrings. As shown in the photo, Patti attached costume earrings to the lampshade. How cute is this to see the edge of the shade trimmed with hanging earrings? The shade can also be pierced for adding plenty of earrings as well.


Using a Punch Bowl

The next idea I fell in love with was displaying a palette of coral necklaces, rings and bracelets inside a sparkling glass punch bowl set. The punch bowl cups made great compartments for a variety of vintage pieces.


Using Red Ribbons for Pins

There was even more display ideas to talk about. Patti, took broad width red ribbons and attached them to a simple white plastic coat hanger. She then pinned broaches on the ribbon in a vertical line. This is such a simple and inexpensive way to showcase vintage pins.

Oh my goodness, I am forgetting another brilliant idea I found at Patti’s Antique Shop. She hung costume necklaces from of all things, a rack used to hang candles.

The crisscross bars are great perches for hanging necklaces. The candle apparatus has a handy loop at the top to allow you to hang your display on the corner of a cabinet door.

You can find racks like this in candle making shops or online stores specializing in candle supplies. Handy crafts minded peole could also make a rack.


Organizng All Your Vintage Pearl Necklaces

One last sweet idea. Take a look at how Patti has organized all her pearl necklaces. We both weren’t sure what the wire rack originally was used for, but you get the idea.
