Kitsch n Stuff Added A Gallery Of Vintage Prints, Original Paintings And Whimscial Art

Kitschy Art At The Collinsville Antiques Company of New Hartford, CT

For Mother's Day, I decided to give my shop Kitsch n Stuff   located at The Collinsville Antiques Center of New Hartford, CT a new look. Now one large wall has a gallery of vintage and original prints and paintings. The look is FAB. These  charming paintings and prints will not last too long. Now they can be seen instead of tucked away in all the nooks and crannies in my booth. It was a big job re-arranging my booth, but the end results were KITSCH at it's best. Hope to see you there!

Decorating Your Antique Booth To Look Like A Vintage Woolworth Toy Counter During The Christmas Holiday

Setting Up A Vintage Woolworth Counter At The Collinsville Antiques Company of New Hartford, CT

In every Antique Mall I have rented space in, I have always delighted in the odd shaped, challenging booth spaces . In my present location at The Collinsville Antiques Company of New Hartford, CT, my current space borders an area that tends to get the hard to place larger items.

Sprucing Up Your Antique Booth For The Holidays

In other words, STUFF gets ....shall we say " placed" right near my booth. Right now there are two funky pinball machines that are GREAT! But sometimes not so wonderful items migrate to my end of the store. So when a terrific antique glass showcase ended up next to my booth and began to become the collecting cabinet for rusty GUY STUFF I needed to rescue the glass cabinet and create an attractive alternative. I analyzed the showcase and immediately thought of Woolworth's at Christmas time. I had a plan B!.

Creating A Colorful Woolworth Toy Counter

I asked the owners of the Mall if I could transform their glass case into a "Woolworth" inspired Five and Dime toy department for the holidays, This idea would be something visitors with families might enjoy looking at. Doug and Cindy, owners of The Collinsville Antiques Company of New Hartford, CT were pleased with my idea. I quickly gathered up as many vintage toys and holidays collectibles as I could find and mixed Christmas collectibles to creat my Faux Woolworth Counter! As yo can see the tree was adorned with vintage potholders...red, green, white...it works!.

Finding Santa Snoring At The Collinsville Antiques Company of New Hartford, CT

Santa is Snug In His Bed At The Collinsville Antiques Company Of New Harford, CT

I was walking up and down the aisles at The Collinsville Antiques Company in New Hartford, CT and I heard snoring. Well to be perfectly honest, at first I just heard a NOISE and I wasn't quite sure what the noise was. But I have heard that noise before (every night) and I knew it was a noise I was familiar with.

A Santa Doll That Snores

But as I walked through this 20,000 square feet Antique emporium, the NOISE got louder and clearer. It was the sound of SNORING. But where was it coming from? Then I walked into one of the dealer's booth and lo and behold, a mechanized Santa doll, was sound asleep in his toy bed snoring. His chest actually moved up and down as he took a deep breath. I suppose this dealer thought having a snoring Santa was a cute idea. Well after awhile, another dealer did a big service to everyone and pulled the plug on Santa! Peace and quiet at last....one needs a certain degree of peace when out antiquing.

Decorating With Garden Antiques And Collectibles Found At The Colllinsville Antiques Company Of New Hartford, Connecticut

Loving This 1940s
Flower Cart I Found At The Collinsville Antiques Company of New Hartford, Connecticut

I have been out hunting for garden and porch stuff and lo and behold, I found fabulous finds at The Collinsville Antiques Company of New Hartford, Connecticut.

Shopping In My Own Booth

And where did I find these precious garden accessories?

Shabby Works

Yep...in my very own booth. Now how much fun is that shopping in your very own booth. (Of course I bought some of these patio collectibles from other dealers over the years, but now they made it into my booth. The yellow chair is a chippy shabby child's chair that has been in my booth with a box of paper collectibles resting on it. Look how cute it looks on the porch with a colorful plant.

Decorating With Vintage Garden And Patio Accessories

The price was right (taking home goodies from my very own booth)...so I felt really pleased. And I can't believe I actually decided to part with some of my 1940s kitsch n collectibles and USE my garden accessories on my very own porch! Up until now, I was not interested in "wasting" good collectibles that I could sell. But, guess what, I am making a breakthrough...and finally decorating my own house...inside and outside.
Wandering Into Patty's Booth At Collinville Antiques Company of New Hartford, CT

But of course I had to spend a little money so I wandered over to Patty's booth (she is in the first aisle on the left )

more planters and stands.
