1960s Mod Pop Kitchen

Bright, Colorful, 1960s Kitchen

I need a little splash  today, so I thought I would re-visit the Mod Pop 1960's kitchen. The Flower Power  introduced colorful combinations of bright yellow, orange  and green.

Plastic kitchen-wares matched and giant flower designs accessorized kitchen wallpaper, place-mats, dish towels and tablecloths.

Elements of the 1950s, such as wrought iron chair legs and vinyl seat cushions still remained. Check out the orange handled kitchen tools hanging on the wall and the egg cups on the shelf.

What a fun kitchen. Oh...how about the Flower Power oven mitt?

Groovy Flower Power Pillows Made From Plonka Home Of Norway

Exciting 1960s And 1970s Colorful Mod Fabric Pillows

Have a little fun. jazz up your Living room or "Media room" with some BOLD COLORFUL PRINTS in some wonderful combinations of rust, orange, brown, yellow, gold, olive green.

Finally, I found some groovy pillows made from original 1960s and 1970s Mod fabric. Introducing Plonka Home Of Norway

These colorful Flower Power decorative accessories are made by Plonka Home . of Norway, a shop i found on Etsy.com. Created as 16 inch pillow cases, the front is original fabric and the back is a high quality linen according to their shop descriptions.

Mixing Mod With Today's Style

These bold designs of flowers, geometrics and abstracts would compliment today's "Transitional Style" where updated furniture styles are mixed with retro and vintage elements such as wall decor, pillows and textiles. Priced at $24.00 with an $8.00 shipping charge, these funky pillows are still way more reasonable than finding new pillows or having custom made pillows made from a decorating service.

Where Does Plonka Find Her Groovy Fabrics?

I'm not sure where this gal finds her fabrics, but she sure does have a beautiful collection of 1960s and 1970s patterns in a variety of authentic palettes.

Some people add pillows at the end of their decorating make-overs. But surely one could start with these pillows and build a fabulous room around them.

A Kitschy Vintage Standing Lamp That Grew Too Big

Is This Quirky Vintage Standing Lamp Kitschy Or Creepy?

This quirky vintage standing lamp reminds me of the musical Little Shop of Horrors which featured 1960s style melodies such as "Skid Row", "Somewhere That's Green" and "Suddenly, Seymour".

Audrey II ?

The lamp, much the same as the out of control Venus Fly Trap looking plant in the musical...takes on a life of it's own. A hapless florist responds to the cries of the plant which calls out "Feed Me" . The plant named "Audrey II" is dying but comes to life after Seymour accidently pricks his finger on a rose thorn and Audrey II thirst for blood is quenched.

Perhaps The Funky Lamp Belongs On The Set of "Hairspray" Instead Of Little Shop Of Horrors ?

I can't quite make up my mind whether this lamp belongs on the set of "Little Shop of Horrors" or "Hairspray". There is something about the giant flowers that makes me want to see the oversized babe in a beauty salon. Doesn't the lamp evoke images of a hair dryer? I picture this funky lamp sitting beside two hot pink chairs in a hair salon with a black and white Linoleum floor. And under the dryer is John Travolta. The outrageous lamp is yours for the taking...hurray up to the Collinsville Antiques Company of New Hartford, Connecticut where the lamp sits in Arnie's booth waiting to be fed!.
