Stylish Red And White Retro Kitchen

When Is A Kitchen Retro ?

What do  you think of when someone says "Retro kitchen" ? Are you thinking "pink and turquoise" ? What about "orange and yellow". Or even "lime green and black"?  Retro seems to mean different things to people depending on when they grew up. But is can also refer to a style which emphasizes whimsy, new interpretations of older looks and novel color combinations.

The Red And White Vintage Kitchen

As you already know if you have been following my blog or reading my books, I have a special place in my heart for "red and white" kitchens. I love the look of a red and white vintage kitchen.I just don't think of "red and white" as Retro. Now it's interesting, if you add a black and white or even large red and white tiled floor to a kitchen and accessorize with vintage red and white kitchen collectibles,  bingo...you are in the Retro zone.

Basically "Retro" is when the outcome is hip, cool, design conscious.  You can be stylish or
grandma-ish! It all depends on how you "put it together".

Red And White Kitchen Collectibles Featured At Kitsch N Stuff

You'll Find Plenty Of Red And White Vintage Housewares And Kitchen Collectibles At Kitsch n Stuff

My shop Kitsch n Stuff is packed with lots of red and white kitchen collectibles.
I am delighted with the look of red and white, colors that remind me of visiting my Grandma's kitchen in Brooklyn, New York. Many of the items that she had in her kitchen were from the 1940s when red and white kitchens were popular.

While I tend to buy a lot of vintage kitchen-wares in primary colors....I also acquire lots of pastel colored kitchen collectibles for my shop. Pink, a 1950s color is also sought after by Retro kitchen enthusiasts and collectors.

Red And White Kitchen Collectibles Are The Most Popular Color Combination

But now let me show off my red and white kitchen-wares which are by far the most popular color combination.

Before I pull apart my booth at The Collinsville Antiques Company to make room for a pastel collection, I thought I would show you some of my favorite red and white kitchen collectibles.

Always Fresh Finds At Kitsch n Stuff

I'm always bringing in aprons, kitchen canisters, spice jars, kitchen tools, doilies, enamelware, salt and pepper shakers, bowls, glassware and more.
Many people ask me where do I get my kitchen-wares? The answer is...I have built my collection or inventory that is for sale...one piece at a time. I'm always out shopping and bringing in lots of red and white collectibles, which I adore.

On A Mission To Down- Date My Updated Kitchen With 1940's Kitchen Collectibles

My Updated Kitchen Needs to Be Down Dated: I Am On A Mission

I'm back on a retro red and white mission again. But now, I am going to do some serious kitchen collectible buying. I have made up my mind, my updated kitchen needs to be "down dated". I want the cozy forties feel back in my very own kitchen and I am determined to achieve it.

Help I Need Some Kitchen Collectibles In My Own Kitchen

Many people think that because I wrote a book on kitchen collectibles and because my shop Kitsch n Stuff is loaded with vintage kitchenwares, that I have a kitchen a ad home filled with goodies.

All The Great Kitchen Collectible Goes Into My Shop

NOPE...that is simply not the case. All the great stuff goes into my shop. But NOW, I am going into change that. I already started the process and today I will return to the search o finding great red and white (and some yellow kitchen collectibles.

Red And White Vintage Kitchen Stuff Looks Great With Granite Counters

I discovered just by pure accident that red and white stuff looked sharp in my kitchen that has a creamy yellowish painted wall and black and cream granite counters. Our appliances are all stainless steel (like everyone else who updated).

Warming Up My Kitchen...One Collectible Baby Step At A Time

But I seriously need to take my own advice and warm up my kitchen. You have no idea how many times I have written about warming up a industrial chic kitchen. Well my kitchen is far from industrial, nor chic for that matter....but it does need some more charm.
Today's Kitchen Collectibles Wish List
1. a great vintage bread box (could be red and white...could be stainless)
2. red and white pot holders
3. vintage wooden ring holders
4. great vintage dish towels
5. a big tablecloth to put under the glass of my black table (its round)
6. red and white novelty items
7. large vintage flower pot (red/yell/white)
8. vintage watering can

I thank Becky of Sweet Cottage Dreams for letting me show you her wonderful salt and peeper shakers above. The rest of the photos are from my book, Hot Kitchen Collectibles For Vintage Style Homes.
