RETRO BEACH: Take Along Your Retro Folding Chairs
Retro folding beach chairs and picnic gear are very popular collectibles. That is why I always urge people who are out at a tag sale or estate sale to check out the garage, basement or storage shed of a home. Aluminum and webbed chairs from the 1950s as well as wooden armed and canvas beach chairs sell nicely if they are in good condition. Many people have these items tucked away in their homes in surprisingly good condition.
Sizing Up Condition of Old Beach Folding Chairs
When sizing up condition, check out the wood frame...is it splintering? rotted? Is the canvas tightly stretched on the frame? Is the canvas faded? Are their any holes in the canvas. Does the chair smell from mildew? Is the canvas original or replaced?
I should add that I have even seen sellers taking off the canvas from a chair frame in poor condition and selling the colorful
Question...if you came across the chair pictured, would you buy it and sell it or buy it and use it?
