Shopping For Fancy Evening Handbags
Try to shop for " After Five" evening bags and dressy accessories in August or early September and you will find out that the pickings are slim. I have made the rounds to all the department stores and discount stores and there are few formal handbags to be found. Prom season is behind us and the holiday season is not yet here, and either is the holiday fashion accessories. The glitz is not out yet.
Is The Glitz Gone?
Perhaps with the economy in such sad shape the new glitz is almost gone. Have you noticed that
the boutiques have all disappeared and finer stores keep a lot less inventory and variety?
And when you do find a new handbag or evening purse, they are made very poorly or too expensive for the workmanship.
Vintage To the Rescue
But what about vintage? Once you make the leap to look for vintage evening bags, you are in an entirely different place. Now you will find a lot of options. In fact I am finding that more and more Antique Malls or Group shops are featuring dealers of vintage clothing and fashion accessories.
The Burlington Inn Antique Center on Route 4 in Burlington, CT has a lovely selection of formal accessories as well as clothing. You will find plenty of glitzy handbags as well as compacts, jewelry, shoes and other dressy items.
Other antique stores in the area that feature vintage clothing are "The Collinsville Antiques Company of New Hartford",(New Hartford, CT), "Antiques On The Farmington", (Collinsville, CT) "Old Carriage Shop" (Bantam CT).
