According to a recent article in the New York Times (The Barbershop Renaissance November 24th, 2010) there has been a growing trend in New York City to open old style neighborhood barbershops. These new barbershop owners are decorating their places with vintage barber collectibles And catch this... eBay says there has been a 77 percent increase in the sale of barber related items in the last six months.

The Times reports that there has been a 10 per cent increase in the number of licensed barbers in the last tow years. Charles Kirkpatrick, the executive officer of the National Association of Barber Boards of America says the number has increased to 245,000 up from 225,000.

Capers of the vintage vixens
So many books touch upon William Henson's design for a hoe-shaped safety razor in 1847. Patent photographs are easy to find, and at least one site claimed the razor was popular in its time.
